Fan Art Friday (51)

This week's fan art is based on Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers. I loved the book, and was so excited to do this piece but when I opened the program and started on it, it just kind of fell flat to me. I really wanted to do something more than just the generic 'heaven boy on one side, hell on the other' because I like to think my imagination is way bigger than that. But unfortunately, that imagination took a vacation because that's exactly how this piece turned out. Although I do like the people I chose for the characters, even if they're stretching it looks-wise for high school students ..

Oh, Luc .. *dreamy sigh* Yay, ew, epic fail? Let me know!

I've noticed a lot more of you taking interest in doing Fan Art Friday. And while I definitely know I'm not the first to post book fan art, and probably not the first to use the name 'Fan Art Friday (though in my defense - I searched before I used it and didn't find anyone using the name in the blogosphere) I like to think I've established this as my own kind of weekly feature. I have no qualms about anybody else doing this as long as you give me credit. Next week I'll be adding my URL to the FAF banner along with an HTML code you can use to post it if you're interested in doing your own post! (Of course, you don't have to give me credit. I can't force you and I can't stop you. But I can think you're an asshat, so ...)

And as always, if you've got fan art that you'd like me to post on my Fan Art Friday, shoot me an email at!

Have an awesome weekend!

  1. OMG! I can't believe you did PD! :P I'm so glad you liked it! I love this, and your characters are yonger than my cover models. O_O

  2. No it's not an epic fail! I love it :)

  3. I love it!(: The guy on the right is really hot.(: literally and not literally(:

  4. I love this! Nice choice with the guys. They're quite swoon worthy ;]

  5. Oh I am in love - it's better than the original :/

  6. I want to read this book now! :-(

Great fan art though. I love it.

  7. This is SO MUCH BETTER, and I stress better, than the cover art for the book. Seriously, I hate the cover for the book due to the WAY too old models used; although the backgroud is gorgeous on the cover.
This art on the book cover would make me want to buy the book.
Even though you're not too keen on it, I think that it's gorgeous. The subtle details of the clouds and the fire really bring out the characters and I like your muted colour choices.
