This is an incredibly late post - I apologize! I meant to get this posted earlier but I've had friends and family visiting left and right all day so this is the only blogging time I could get today. Anyway, I wanted to do something different on the blog and after I saw Pam from Bookalicious start this feature last month, I thought it was insanely cool. So I'm going to give it a shot!
The basis of this post is pretty self-explanatory. I'm going to talk about things that haven't sucked this past week!
Blog that doesn't suck:
I think I mention Chick Loves Lit, run by Shanyn, quite often on Sophistikatied. But if you follow her blog and talk to Shanyn on Twtter at all, you probably understand why. She writes great reviews, does awesome interviews and is an all-around entertaining person. And she basically keeps me in line. If not for her, I'd be a confused mess.
Book that doesn't suck:
Sometimes It Happens by Lauren Barnholdt. I was expecting this to be lame. I was expecting to not finish this at all. But I was kind of blown away at how amazing it is. This was my first Lauren Barnholdt book and it definitely won't be my last. Love it!
Website that doesn't suck:
inkpop. If you're a young aspiring writer (or old! There is no age restriction!) this is the perfect community for you. Post your work, critique others and get critiques, and have the chance to get your work read by the HarperTeen editorial board. (This is how Leigh Fallon, author of The Carrier Of The Mark was discovered) And you can even enter contests! Right now, my friend Julie from [Bloggers [[heart]] Books] is trying to get votes for a contest she entered where she has a chance to have her short story published! (If you want to help her out, I know she'd appreciate the votes! Click here to read her entry, login to Facebook and use the rating stars to vote!
Song that doesn't suck:
I'll Be Your Man by McFly. The sexiest song ever recorded by the best band ever formed. I get goosebumps every single time this song pops up on iTunes. And the fact that Tom Fletcher sings the name "Katie" in the second verse is an added bonus that makes me a very happy camper.
That's it for this week. Check back next Saturday for more stuff that doesn't suck!
