Yesterday I did just about the coolest thing ever: I attended a Harry Potter party. It was so much fun and so awesome and since it's sort of book related, I figured why not post on the blog?
If you follow me on Twitter, you've probably seen a tweet or two in the past two months about my ridiculous excitement or my costume crises or something other pertaining to this party. It finally took place in one of my cousin's remodeled barn last night! I was dressed as Luna Lovegood, one of my all-time favorite characters from the Harry Potter world. My costume was a bit ... rough. The wig was absolutely horrible and the jacket I bought didn't dye so I had to use a back-up last minute. But it definitely did not lower my spirits any!
The outside of the barn, displaying all four of the house banners!
The feast table! (It really was a feast. We had turkey, chicken, stuffing, potatoes and corn and all kinds of other foods. I felt like Ron with the way I was stuffing my face)
My friend, dressed as Narcissa Malfoy, checking out some of the wanted posters.
The treat table! There were all kinds of delicious goodies - chocolate frogs (check out those boxes! They look so authentic!) licorice, Bertie Botts, acid pops (made by yours truly with blow pops and pop rocks) and a bunch of other cool baked goods!
The cutest cupcakes ever! Wizard hats! And they were so, so good!
Got my tea leaves read by the host of the party who was dressed as Professor Trelawney! She heated up something using a tin spoon, put it in water to harden and I had to put it in my palm and tell her what it looked like. According to her, I've got great fortune coming my way quickly. Guess I better start playing the lottery?
Butterbeer and cider! My two drinks of choice for the evening. The butterbeer was absolutely delicious! Vanilla ice cream, cream soda, butterscotch syrup and cinnamon. I think I had about six cups, haha.
Closer look at some of the treats. My friend made the cake that Hagrid gave Harry when they first met!
More pics of the treat table!
Ravenclaw pride! Ugh, that wig was absolutely horrible. I cringe at the thought of ever putting it on my head again. And that coat was so bulky. Made me look so big and I was sweating my ass off by the end of the afternoon since it was 80 degrees outside. But I had the perfect Luna skirt that I made myself that this picture didn't get. :(
Trelawney, Dobby and Luna! I wish I had more pictures of my cousin dressed as Dobby. She served the entire party their dinner and walked around with one sock on the entire night. It was hilarious!
That was all the pictures I could take before I abandoned my camera in the car. I wish I would have kept it with me so I could've documented the rest of the evening which was a blast, but I think you get the point. Overall, a very cool experience! I hope to get invited to more parties like this in the future!
Perhaps a Hunger Games or Mortal Instruments party? Though I'm not quite sure how you'd decorate for those ...
