Top Ten Tuesday was created and is hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. This week's topic is books I picked up because of the cover/title - the ones that, no matter how good and bad the synopsis sounded, I just had to read because of how wonderful the cover was.
In no particular order:
Ice by Sarah Beth Durst - Hands down, my favorite book cover ever. Absolutely gorgeous. In person it's all shiny and glittery and even more gorgeous than it looks online. And the best part is is that what is behind the cover, the story, is just as beautiful. Saw it at Borders and HAD to have it.
Dead Rules by Randy Russell - Most people are sort of freaked out by this cover but I think it's awesome. I got the arc with every intention of reading it after its release date but those big, haunting eyes were like a siren the way they called to me from the pile of books.
The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff - Another creepy cool one. I love when covers actually fit the book instead of being just a random model with windblown hair or something.
Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce - I love artwork on book covers. They definitely stand apart from the generic pretty girl book covers on shelves. My eye tends to catch bolder covers and this cover is definitely bold.
Nightshade by Andrea Cremer - Even though I'm not a fan of all pretty girl covers, I still have a few favorites. Nightshade's first cover is absolutely beautiful. Not sure what's up with all the purpleness but it's so pretty in person that it kind of distracts you, haha.
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl - There's something so stunning about that font. And in embossed foil? The whole color on black cover with the large, capitalized title named on both the cover and the spine make the books shine on my shelves. The first time I saw Beautiful Creatures online, I pre-0rdered it ASAP. Had to have it!
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick - Hate on the book all you want, but you know you love the cover. Don't deny it.
Hourglass by Myra McEntire - This cover is so simple but so powerful. As soon as the author unveiled it, I was like OMGNEEDITNOW.
Steel by Carrie Vaughn - After Harper released this cover in their catalog, I salivated over this book for months. To be honest, I didn't even care what the book was about. LOOK AT THAT COVER.
Did you buy any of these books based on their covers? If not, which ones DID you pick up?
