Top Ten Tuesday was created and is hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. This week's topic is books that left me with my mouth hanging open - those stories with epic cliffhangers or endings that kind of left me in a daze afterward.
In no particular order:
Divergent by Veronica Roth - I don't think it was the ending in specific that kind of had me sitting there, dumbfounded after finishing it. I think it was the intensity of the novel that built and built and then ... that. I think I even clapped in applause after I regained composure of myself.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin - The ending? Please. My mouth was wide open throughout the whole thing, not just the conclusion.
The Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor - I just finished this one the other day, but holy meatballs, talk about a cliffhanger. I don't think that I've ever wanted a sequel so badly before. I want the second book in my hands. Like now.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - When I finished the first book, I literally shrieked. And nearly threw my book against the wall. Luckily I had bought the second book at the same time as the first so no book abusement was necessary.
The Lost Saint by Bree Despain - There was a silence while I processed the ending in my head and then there was that OMGDIDTHATSERIOUSLYHAPPEN moment. Bree Despain, you are an evil woman. I've never been so caught off guard by an ending before and now I'm ridiculously impatient for The Savage Grace.
Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick - I was so happy that Patch and Nora were finally getting their act together and that they were possibly going to have their happy ending and then THAT. Was definitely not expecting it. But Silence came out today so I won't have to wait long to find out what happens!
The Clearing by Heather Davis - I had a million different scenarios worked in my head of what was going to happen at the end of this one but what really happened was certainly not one of them.
Are any of these on your list? If not, what books made your jaw drop in shock at the ending?
