Top Ten Tuesday: Books I'd Give A Theme Song To

Top Ten Tuesday was created and is hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. This week's topic is books I'd give a theme song to. I don't have the kind of music palette to give each book a perfect musical match, so these lyrics aren't going to be spot on with the books or anything. They're just songs I think familiarize with the stories a bit!

In no particular order:

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins / Let The Flames Begin - Paramore: This is the one exception to what I said above. I think this song is absolutely perfect for this book. It should be in the movie's soundtrack. It totally convey's Katniss' rebellion and anger at the Capitol.

The Wolves of Mercy Falls (Shiver, Linger, Forever) by Maggie Stiefvater / The Way You Make Me Feel - McFly: This is one of my all-time favorite songs by my all-time favorite band and I can't help but think of Sam and Grace when I hear it. It just has that certain Sam charm to it that I love so much.

Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake / Banshee Song - Gob: This is a love song about a ghost. It's pretty and haunting but still upbeat enough to fit the edgy feel and emotions of the book. I pretty much picture a pale girl with black hair and a bloodied white dress in my head whenever iTunes plays it now.

Don't Breathe a Word by Holly Cupala / Everywhere I Go - Lissie: This song is so gorgeous and sad, very much like Holly's novel about a girl turning to a life on the streets. I highly recommend you read this book, then listen to this song. Or vice versa.

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard / Teachin' Myself To Dream - Katy Rose: I love this song and this book together because they both have the common message of "finding yourself." I just finished Wanderlove last night (INCREDIBLE book!) and Katy's lyrics kind of feel like Bria's thoughts.

Virtuosity by Jessica Martinez / Little Dreams - Ellie Goulding: I think this song kind of symbolizes Carmen's attitude regarding Jeremy. She's wary of him even though he's pretty much all she can think about.

Dreamland Social Club by Tara Altebrando / Down For Whatever - The Summer Obsession: I can't tell you exactly why I find this song to fitting for the book. Maybe it's because it's got a cool, nonchalant beachy vibe and that is basically the esssence of Dreamland Social Club? I don't know. They're both just so good.

Flavor of the Week by Tucker Shaw / Holly, I'm The One - Son Of Dork: This song and this story are pretty much the same. Guy loves a girl, but helps his best friend get said girl instead. Even though I love this song but didn't love the book, I can't deny that they kind of go hand in hand.

That's all I've got, but I'm positive the best ones will come to me once I publish this post, so I'll probably update it later. Do you agree with any of my choices? If not, what songs would you pick for the books? Let me know!

  4. Cool post!! Though I <3 paramore and that song is an awesome fit, I think of Fire (Aim Your Arrows High) by Versaemerge when I think about the Hunger Games series!

  5. Hey Katie!

Just saw your selection for Anna Dressed in Blood. Solid choice! I'd never heard it before, but people often ask if Anna had a song. Very fitting. And yes, I creep through your blog every now and again. Who's got two thumbs and is a creeper? This author.
