Saturday morning we were up super early again and made the two & a half/three hour drive to Chicago. Signings started at 11 and we got there at 9:45 but it was already INSANELY packed when we got inside. The actual signings were absolutely crazy. All of those authors and fans piled into a room not nearly big enough made for a lot of chaos. I was sweaty and exhausted and done by the first hour and a half but it was totally worth it! I got to meet Stephanie Perkins, Cynthia Hand, Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl, Carrie Ryan (who I met in 2010 at the Naperville Smart Chicks tour and she REMEMBERED ME!) Beth Revis, Veronica Roth, Brodi Ashton, Bree Despain, Jennifer Lynn Barnes (again!) Rosemary Clement-Moore, Richelle Mead, Melissa Marr (again!) and so many others!
After the signings, we went to Fridays for lunch with fellow blogger Kristen from Bookworming in the 21st Century. We managed to get back in time for the Taming The Inferno panel (with authors Rachel Caine, Carrie Ryan, Kimberly Derting, Ally Carter, Frannie Billingsly and Stephanie Perkins) that was meant to focus on series, stand-alones and genres but ended up being one hilarious free-for-all. And I have a newfound love for Maragret Stohl - who ended up moderating the panel - because she was SO funny and so devoted to making sure the audience had a great time instead of just having a normal speaking panel.
After the panel, it was time to PARTYYY. The line to get inside was SO crazy long but once again - definitely worth it. I didn't have time to really speak to the authors that much or get pictures with them in the insanity that was the signings so I was pretty happy that I eventually got the chance to do so.
After getting some pictures (scroll down to see!) and speaking with some of our favorite authors, we drove back to Kalamazoo. I spent pretty much ALL DAY on the train on Sunday, as our three hour trip home was full of delays and speed restrictions and was turned into a seven hour trip home. (Thanks for that, Amtrak ...)
But I had SO much fun and I'm so glad I went! It was amazing to meet all of my favorite authors and of course, it was so nice to see all of my favorite bloggers again! Speaking of which - I finally got to meet Jen from Makeshift Bookmark, Katelyn from Kate's Tales of Books and Bands and Jacinda from The Reading Housewives Of Indiana! And they were both as awesome in person as they are online. :)
Me with Stephanie Perkins (Anna & The French Kiss/Lola & The Boy Next Door) who was SO amazingly nice. (And look at that hair! JEALOUS!)
My friend Alex and I with Veronica Roth. This was definitely a STARSTRUCK moment. This is who we have to thank for the amazingness that is Divergent and Four. No words.
Me and Bree Despain, who wrote The Dark Divine trilogy. Looked for her EVERYWHERE the entire night and had to keep from doing an excited happydance when I finally found her.
Carrie Ryan and I! I met her two years ago but this is my first picture with her. She actually remembered me from 2010 ... that's pretty amazing. o_O
Kami Garcia! One half of the dynamic duo that writes the awesome Beautiful Creatures series. She actually gave my friend and I some books she had already read from her swagbag - so cool!
And the other half, the hilarious Maragret Stohl. I wasn't aware just how hilarious this lady was but I could NOT stop laughing through her panel.
Alex and I with Jennifer Lynn Barnes, (Raised By Wolves) who is always so gorgeous and energetic and sweet!
Me with Cynthia Hand, who wrote Unearthly and Hallowed! I was pretty frazzled considering how much I love those books.
And last but not least - Beth Revis who is responsible for the fantastic sci-fi books Across The Universe and A Million Suns!
That was my weekend! Sorry for the incredibly detailed post but I tend to get overexcited and don't want to leave anything out. I'm aiming to go to the Fierce Reads tour in East Lansing on June 15th (with authors Anna Banks, Leigh Bardugo, Jennifer Bosworth and Emmy Laybourne) so stay tuned for my next event recap!
