A Book I Read This Year ...

The Host by Stephenie Meyer

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by
a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their
bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.

Wanderer, the
invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of
living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But
there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body
refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's
thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in
hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for
a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling
allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

THIS BOOK. OH MY GOD THIS BOOK. It took me years to actually pick it up and I could kick my own ass for that. This book (which is worlds away from the Twilight series for all those haters out there) is emotional and romantic and sometimes funny and sometimes thrilling and I was basically a mess of emotions on my bedroom floor when I finally finished it. Easily one of the best books I've read, not just this year but in general! I don't just recommend, I urge you all to read this one! (Especially since the movie is coming out next year and it's looking like it'll be AMAZING!)

  1. I agree, this was lightyears away from Twilight! I read it so long ago, I'd actually like to re-read it!

  2. Gah, I adore The Host. I've been trying to convince people to read it for YEARS, but everyone recoils at the name of Stephenie Meyer. This book is completely different from the Twilight saga, and I wish more people would give it a shot. I've read it multiple times, and it is as good if not better each time.
