Breaking Dawn Part 2: Non-spoiler gush-fest!
But I was wrong. There are no words. Only hysterical crying, overwhelming love, maniacal laughter and a gigantic HEART ATTACK thrown in for good measure.
Breaking Dawn Part 2 picks up exactly where the first part ended. As a whole, the two parts remain to be the best book-to-movie adaptations of the entire series. I was so happy that pretty much all of my favorite scenes were in the movie and were done justice. Everything was done justice. Now that Bella is a vampire, the movie can focus a lot more on what living as a vampire is like and the movie takes full advantage of that. Also, the battle scene was freaking epic. Holy meatballs. So, so good.
AND GARRETT AND KATE. Oh, the cuteness! Garrett was such a great character! I wish he had been introduced earlier in the series!
My one and ONLY complaint is the CGI of baby Renesmee. It just looked entirely too animated. I know they wanted the baby to look older and just like Edward and Bella but I would have much rather preferred a real, non-look alike infant.
I've always felt a bit disappointed with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's portrayal of Edward and Bella because in the first three movies, even together, they seemed kind of miserable and stiff. I just chalked it up to weird acting. But after seeing the final film, I kind of appreciate that now. Edward and Bella are finally a family and there is no obstacles in their way now. (Well, except for the Volturi but they don't come until the second half of the film) And there is such a noticeable difference in their character' personalities because of this. Bella is so much more outspoken and independent and brave. Edward is so much more easygoing and hilarious. On screen they were so adorable that I barely suppressed squeals and giggles whenever they had their scenes.
Of course, I have to bring up THE SCENE. The scene that hopefully nobody has spoiled for those of you who haven't seen the movie yet because this shit doesn't happen in the book. (Bring tissues, trust me) This movie has just given me the absolutely most shocked moment I've ever had in my entire life. EVER. The collective gasp in the audience was something that I'll remember for a long, long time. But it was brilliant and amazingly done and it had my heart RACING.
I just want to hug every single person that worked on these movies. I've never felt so emotionally (and physically. There was a lot of trembling happening!) impacted by a movie before but this tore me to pieces. I was sobbing my eyes out when the credits finally began rolling.
It's bittersweet to see it end and as a seven-year Twihard, I am absolutely devastated. However, it definitely went out with a bang. A beautiful, brilliant bang and I could not be any happier with it. ♥
Okay, I've rambled on long enough. I'm just going to go curl up in my bed and think about the fact that I will get no more Edward and Bella and then cry some more.
